Miracle Man

about

Bruce Hughes has been a participant and active supporter of the Fredericton music scene for many years. On May 31, 2017 he suffered a massive stroke and ultimately was transported to Saint John, New Brunswick where a medical team performed a mechanical thrombectomy. Given the severity of the stroke, the time it took for treatment, and the rare type of surgery for his circumstance, the extent of Bruce’s recovery was considered a miracle by health care staff. In September 2017 Bruce performed in a reunion of his former band “Blind Dog” at Fredericton’s renowned Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival. While working hard to complete a full recovery Bruce now performs with his current band “The Unheard.”

A cross section of Fredericton musicians readily agreed to take part in this recording to honour the Miracle Man and the health care workers who took care of him through his stroke and recovery.

lyrics

© 2018 Jeff Patch

He’s a rock and roll man
In a rock and roll band
Had blood clots in the brain
In a few months he was back playing

Miracle Man, hug your baby tonight
Miracle Man gonna be alright

He lives in the country upriver
And he don’t mind the banjo pickers
Woke up to nurses at his bed
Talkin’ ‘bout how he shoulda been dead

Miracle Man, hug your baby tonight
Miracle Man gonna be alright

BREAK

How he’s out spreadin’ the word
And playin’ guitar with The Unheard
He’s a rock and roll man
He plays in a rock and roll band

Miracle Man, hug your baby tonight
Miracle Man gonna be alright

He’s a Miracle Man
He’s a Miracle Man
Miracle Man
Miracle Man
Miracle Man

Ooooh
